Menu Plan Monday, August 4, 2008

I just realized that this is my 100th post!  I feel like I should have something meaningful to say or something, but that might just have to wait for 104 or 109 or some other random number.  One thing that I have started work on is a list of things that I want to make.  I got this idea from Celiac Teen’s blog, who in turn “borrowed” the idea from another fellow blogger.  I’m going to create a separate page, instead of a post, that will be linked to at the top of my homepage.  As I make the things on my list, I get to cross them off (and I’ll try to remember to write about them).

I have a birthday coming up, and I have asked for Julia Child’s “Mastering the Art of French Cooking.”  So I will be trying such things as Duck a L’Orange and Bouillabaisse.  Should be fun!  I have also joined the Daring Bakers so I can try my hand at baking more challenging things.

In the meantime, I have a fairly boring menu planned for the week.

Gluten Free Menu Swap Monday

This week’s Menu-Swap is being hosted by Natalie at Gluten Free Mommy(where you can find a round-up of all the week’s yummy, yummy, menus). The ingredient of the week is mint.  I really don’t use mint much, since my husband isn’t a fan of it.  Maybe I’ll have a mojito instead.

Monday:
Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches
(chicken breasts in wing sauce)
Fries
(At least I’ve stuck to my menu so far! I grilled up chicken breasts with wing sauce, topped them with gf blue cheese, tomato and lettuce. I had mine wrapped in Kate’s “mock lavash bread” which is now my default bread product.)

Tuesday:
Out to Dinner

Wednesday:
Fish Tacos
(And now we deviate from the week’s menu.  Instead of cooking, we went out to dinner with my husband’s business partner and his wife.  Ate at a really nice local restaurant called The Boathouse Rotisserie and Raw Bar.  Had oysters as an appetizers, followed by a salad with some killer smoked chicken.)

Thursday:
Pasta with Vegetables
and Fresh, Homemade Pesto

Friday:
Pizza

Saturday:
Retirement Dinner for my Boss
Niko’s Southside Grill
